University of Sheffield – Engineering Discovery Day

Event: University of Sheffield – Engineering Discovery Day

Wednesday 19th June, 9:00am - 5:00pm

Come and explore subjects across the fields of science, technology, engineering and maths
giving your students a chance to experience subjects designed to stimulate intellectual curiosity, collaborative working and creative problem solving.

This fun interactive session will give students a real hands on experience of some of the exciting work being done in the engineering department. It will also give them the opportunity to learn about the wide variety of career opportunities available to engineers.

This team-based activity – facilitated by engineers from Sheffield Engineering Leadership Academy – will challenge students to work together to build a prototype of Hyperloop, an underground transport system. Each team’s work must connect with other teams’, and there’s a tight deadline to meet! Students will be challenged to work under pressure, make and be accountable for design and implementation decisions, and learn how engineers use creativity to solve challenges and change the world.
