Event: Hepp ‘HEre for all’ Virtual Conference
Thursday 2nd July, 9:30am - 3:30pm
We are delighted to invite you to our first online conference to encourage more young people to consider higher education opportunities.
HEre for all: everything you need to know about Gatsby Benchmarks and pathways into higher education.
Thursday 2nd July, via Zoom from 09:30
Register your attendance here.
Featuring a keynote address from Janet Colledge, the ‘Careers Defender’, the event will:
• highlight the importance of the Gatsby Benchmarks linked to social mobility
• share experiences of careers education and guidance in the current climate
• promote additional support available for underrepresented/vulnerable groups in our region to help their transition to higher education
• share good practice on key topics, including care experienced young people progressing to higher education
Now more than ever, careers guidance and clear accurate information are crucial to enable young people to fulfil their potential.
Professor John Holman described The Gatsby Benchmarks as a way of promoting social mobility when they were first introduced. Now is a good time to reflect on our progress and re-evaluate the benchmarks in this way.
Research undertaken by organisations including the Sutton Trust suggests that the current pandemic will further widen the gap between opportunities available for underrepresented groups and their peers. The need for raising accurate knowledge and self-belief is even more important in the current climate.
Our online conference will help you ensure you are doing all you can to support all of your students, regardless of background in this most unusual of times.
You will hear about the latest developments in the world of CEIAG from Janet Colledge, ‘The Careers Defender’, and learn more about the support available for underrepresented and vulnerable groups to help their transition to higher education.
Once you have booked onto the event an email with the Zoom log-in details and full programme will be sent to you.
The event will be recorded so please turn off your camera if you would rather not be seen.
