Event: Girls into Electronics Day hosted by the University of Sheffield
Thursday 6 July 2023 9:00 AM - 5.00 PM
Following the huge success from last year’s Girls into Electronic Event at the University of Sheffield, summer 2023 presents a fantastic opportunity to experience another real taster day at the Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering, University of Sheffield!
Girls into Electronics is a series of non-residential events that are being hosted by leading universities across the UK this summer, including University of Sheffield. The events are ideal for female and gender minority students in Year 11, 12 or 13, thinking about studying Electronics, Computer Science or Engineering. Participants will get the chance to hear from female staff and students at the university, and from female graduates working in the Electronics industry, have a tour of the facilities, and also get an introduction to microcontrollers.
This event is in collaboration with UKESF, sponsored by Apple, and aims to introduce Girls to Electronics and Electrical Engineering through various inspirational activities. The one day in-person event will be held in the Diamond – a- state-of-the-art building for teaching practical skills to engineers enabling participants to experience a friendly welcoming environment that will enthuse them about the engineering sector.
The day is fully catered and equipped with interactive activities. Furthermore, the day will feature a Q&A session where participants will meet current students and learn from their experiences, in addition to hearing from an admissions tutor and a UKESF scholar.
