South Yorkshire CU School Games Tournament – A Day to Remember!
South Yorkshire Children’s University celebrated a milestone moment with its first ever Inter-School Games Tournament, held in partnership with Imagination Gaming and hosted by Doncaster Children’s University.
Fifteen schools from across Barnsley CU, Doncaster CU, Rotherham CU and Sheffield CU came together for a day filled with curiosity, concentration, and plenty of smiles.
Morning of Learning and Play
The day began with pupils exploring a wide mix of card and strategy games. It was inspiring to see young people grow in confidence as they practised tactics, made decisions, and cheered each other on. A huge thank you goes to the Doncaster College students, whose support helped create such a warm and encouraging atmosphere.
Afternoon Tournament Excitement
The afternoon brought the competitive rounds, with mixed-group games and a nail-biting final play-off. Pupils showed incredible teamwork, quick thinking, and quiet determination throughout.
Celebrating Success
🎉 Congratulations to Sheffield CU’s Carfield Community Primary School, who shone brightly by winning both the individual player award and the overall school trophy. Their achievement capped off a day of friendly competition and character-building experiences.

This event was made possible thanks to the dedication of Rachael Benstead at Doncaster CU and the brilliant team from Imagination Gaming, whose organisation ensured everything ran smoothly.
The tournament was a shining example of what South Yorkshire CU stands for: collaboration, enrichment, inclusivity, and joyful learning.
