Student Life – Placements and Opportunities
In this section, we’ll look at different opportunities available to students during their degrees such as placements and studying abroad.
Spending time abroad during your time at university is an amazing opportunity. Whether it’s a summer school, semester (about 3-4 months) or year it’s a great chance to explore other cultures, travel and gain experiences which will help you in your future career. Both Sheffield universities offer students from a range of different courses the opportunity to study abroad as part of their degree. Whilst some people may choose to learn a language before going abroad, it’s not essential in order to participate.

Some University courses have compulsory or optional industry placements. Dependent on the course, they can range from a few weeks up to a full year. Placements are an opportunity to gain valuable experience of the workplace and provide an insight into potential career options. The work experience also looks very impressive on your CV to future employers! Sheffield Hallam University focuses on applied teaching.
